MISSION
With a passion for the global transportation industry and the solutions it can deliver to underpin global trade, Markus works with his clients to facilitate and drive informed and fact-based decisions across organizational boundaries. He sees significant value that can be unlocked by enabling industry participants to play to their respective strengths and by empowering the dedicated and ingenious people on the frontlines of this industry with the right tools and information.
CASE STUDY
Markus has worked with a major Air Freight forwarder to establish a global Procurement and Tradelane Management organization in parallel to introducing a globally orchestrated Air Freight Sourcing process, supported by an innovative IT solution.
By running a rigorous sourcing and supplier management process with full transparency of capacity, rates, fulfillment levels, and service performance, the forwarder was able to flexibly adjust the balance between local and central sourcing in line with market developments, while ensuring continuity with key suppliers. At the same time, the forwarder was able to strategically develop and shift its supplier base.
The Procurement and Tradelane Management function was tightly interlinked with the forwarder’s in-house carrier, allowing to optimally deploy and manage this own-controlled capacity alongside commercial uplift.
